1) INTRODUCTION
- This School is one of the undertakings of Sangli Mission Society (Reg. No. Mah. / 3863 & F / 3827, Sangli), which is registered as a minority religious, educational and charitable society, governed by the members of minority Catholic community.
- The Constitution of India in its Articles 29 and 30 protects the cultural and educational rights of the minority communities. Article 29 of the Constitution of India protects the interests of the minority, especially regarding their language, script and culture. Article 30 ensures the right to establish and administer educational institutions by the minority communities.
- Amongst the aims and objectives of the Sangli Mission Society, education is one of the principle agenda. This school always strives to maintain high academical standard, quality, values and Godliness in education. Importance of education has been understood as of primary importance since education helps everyone to discover own identity and destiny. It enables each individual to realize fully and effectively. Our school has a definite, but participatory role to play in this ongoing process.
- This School is a Catholic institution and it is an academic community, characterized by shared vision, responsibility and mutual love. This school is managed by the members of a Catholic minority community and is committed in integral education of all students irrespective of any class, caste or creed. It stands for a just and human society.
2) OUR GOAL
- The Department of Education, Sangli Mission Society strives to achieve the highest development of the man in his/her totality, by imparting sound irrespective of class, caste or creed. It follows the guidelines laid down by the II Vatican Council in its decree on Catholic Education.
- All men of whatever race, condition and age, in virtue of their dignity as human persons have an inalienable right to an education corresponding to their proper destiny and suited to their native talents, sex, cultural background and ancestral heritage. At the same time this education should pave the way to brotherly association with other peoples, so that genuine unity and peace on earth may be promoted. For, a true education aims at the formation of the human person with respect to the good of those societies of which as man, he is a member, and in whose responsibilities as an adult, he will share” (Ge1).
3) THE SCHOOL AIMS AT
- Forming intellectually developed; emotionally mature, morally upright, patriotic and spiritually enlightened men and women.
- Forming a new generation of people who are committed to the task of building up of a just society.
- Diffusing knowledge of ethical and spiritual values în order to help inner liberation and foster in the students a high degree of integrity, honesty, justice and charity.
- Fostering love and respect for Indian spiritual values, culture and heritage.
- The atmosphere in our school of learning is of living, working & understanding, including inter-acting with love & respect as the children of God.
4) CURRICULUM & SYLLABI
- The course of studies of the school is arranged according to the syllabus laid down by the department of education, State of Maharashtra.
- Learning Hindi and Marathi languages are compulsory for the purpose of promotion to the prior classes.
- Language of Marathi is taught from standard 2nd and Hindi from standard VI.
- Computer Education is introduced in the school from Standard First.
5) ADMISSION & WITHDRAWAL
- All students shall make themselves familiar with the rules and regulations that concern their conduct in the school. Ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse. Parents are requested to ensure that the rules and regulations are carefully observed by the students.
- Children desiring admission to the KG section of the school shall submit the following documents along with the application.
* The Xerox copy of the birth certificate.
* Two passport size photos.
- Students seeking admission to Standard I shall submit the following document besides those mentioned in the application form.
* The original birth certificate issued from the Village or Municipal Office.
* Proof of certificate for the successful completion of KG course.
- However the school does not guarantee the admission to Standard. I, to those students who have successfully completed their KG course at any other school including the schools of Sangli Mission Society.
- A candidate who has attended any recognized school cannot be admitted without a leaving certificate from the school, last attended.
- In case of candidates coming from schools outside the state of Maharashtra, the leaving certificate must be countersigned by the Education Officer of the District, in which the previous school is situated.
- Admission fee paid once is not refundable.
- One month prior notice by the parents/guardians (and not by the students) is required for the withdrawal or leaving of the student from the school. The application for the leaving certificate is to be submitted to the Principal by the parent/guardian in person and not in mail or substitution.
- Leaving Certificate or any other documents will be issued only after all the dues have been cleared, library books and other articles have been returned to the proper person in-charge.
6) EXAMINATIONS AND PROMOTION
- There shall be Two Unit Tests and Two Terminal Exams for all the standards up to class VIII. A student absent for examination will be considered as failed. Reports on the general conduct and academical progress of the students are issued after each examination.
- Parents may ensure that the students produce their reports periodically. Do take corrective measures after verifying the performance at each stage of learning. Pupils should return the report cards duly signed by the parents/guardians. In case of misplace, the student should obtain duplicate card remitting Rs. 100/- at school office
- Promotion to the higher classes significantly depends on the performance of the student at each phase of internal assessment. Minimum attendance mandatory for promotion is 90%. The Principal reserves the right to request the withdrawal of any student whose behaviour or progress is unsatisfactory in his / her opinion. The annual result of the scholastic year will be distributed on a prearranged day, to all those who have fulfilled all academic requirements.
- The grades/rank in all examinations will be determined according to the total marks of the students who passed in all subjects.
- Any malpractice detected during or subsequent to an examination will lead to the disqualification or even the dismissal from the school.
- A refused promotion will not be reconsidered under any circumstance. The decision of the Principal on promotion will be final. If a student fails twice in the same class or repeats a class more than one year he/she should be withdrawn from the school with leaving certificate.
- Answers without question numbers or subdivision numbers or wrong question numbers will not be evaluated nor will claim for award of marks be accepted.
- At the warning bell, students should stop writing and check whether they have entered the required details such as their proper names, class, division, roll numbers etc on each supplement as per the guidance. The students may secure the supplements together in the proper order and tie them with the twine provided. Thereafter the student may continue writing but should hand over the answer booklets to the invigilator at the final bell without any delay. No student shall leave the examination hall without the permission of the invigilator.
- Any student found with any study material in the possession or on person may be debarred from appearing for the remaining subjects.
- Craft, drawing and work-experience assignments are to be completed in the classroom itself either during examination or on working days, as per requirement and instruction.
7) ABSENCE/ATTENDANCE
- A leave note of absence is desired from parents/ guardian, when a student is absent from the school. Leave without prior sanction of the Principal may be treated as absence.
- Lack of proper information over a period of two weeks will result in the deletion of the name from the roll.
- It is mandatory that every student is present in the school on the first day after every long holiday such as Ganpati, Diwali, Christmas holidays, without fail.
- Principal has all the right to introduce adequate measures and steps to prevent massive absence on such occasion and every student is bound to obey them.
- Withdrawal of the child from the school for social gathering is not encouraged.
- Absence on account of illness should be supported with proper medical and fitness certificates. No leave of absence will be granted except for genuine reason.
8) DISCIPLINARY MEASURES
- Discipline is a must for establishing an institutional climate that promotes the intellectual, cultural and personality development of the young ones.
- Parents and guardians have to co-operate with the authorities of the school for enforcing discipline and regularity in the school.
- Every student is expected to be of good conduct and behaviour. Disobedience or unbecoming conduct which may negatively influence the moral tone of the school is enough reason for the dismissal of any student from the school.
- Dismissal is immanent to any student who is persistently insubordinate or is repeatedly and wilfully mischievous.
- Dismissal is immanent to anyone who is guilty of malpractice in connection with examinations.
- Who has committed an act of serious indiscipline and misbehaviour.
- Who in the opinion of the Head of the school has an unwholesome influence on his fellow pupils
- They may be expelled permanently or removed from the school for a specified period of time
- Two official written warnings will be given for less serious cases, before the final expulsion. Irregular attendance, habitual idleness and neglect of homework by the students may lead to serious remedial measures. In other cases of serious lapses, corrective action will be given according to the gravity of the matter.
- Disobedient student will be served with light disciplinary proceedings in view of making him/her restricted. Parents shall understand and cooperate with the school authorities keeping the spirit and mind of the disciplinary actions administered on misbehaving students.; nor shall they indulge in any form of rivalry among themselves on account of certain unwarranted behaviour the students in the school.
- If the parents are too sensitive with regard to corrective measures, they shall inform the Principal in writing.
- English is the only medium of communication and Instruction in the school. The students shall converse in English in the classroom and in the school premises. Using any other language in the school campus will invite corrective measures. The intention behind any corrective measure is excellence in academics and personality development.
9) MESSAGE TO THE PARENTS
- Your child is a precious treasure that you have graciously received from God. Education of the child is the primary obligation of responsible parenthood. Thus, we strongly recommend that every parent try to find ample time, irrespective of everyday heavy schedule, to take care of the child.
- Enable your child to learn the lessons of love, kindness, faith, truth, charity, and respect etc. from the home itself. Do not expect that your child will learn these lessons from others. The school authorities and teachers can extend only a helping hand in order to fulfil your obligations. Maximum co-operation and support of parents is required and thus desired to realize all that is best in the child. Let us all co-operate with each other in this noble endeavour.
- The parents should pay only appropriate attention to the complaints of the children, and try to inculcate respect for elders, parents, teachers and authorities maintaining discipline and honesty.
- Always try to promote the value of charity in your child, for charity begins at home. Do not hesitate take and give charitable helps from Sangli Mission Society.
- Avoid criticizing teachers or school authorities in the presence of your child as it can create a lose attitude towards the discipline and systems of the school now, and to yourself and to the public system at later stage. Handle the conflicting situations with utmost care and maturity. However, if there are genuine and legitimate complaints, discuss the matter with the Principal during the office hours by prior appointment.
- The parents or guardians are not allowed to enter the class room or the adjacent verandas during the school hours. Neither they shall meet the students nor interview the teachers during school hours without prior permission from the Principal.
- The person who is authorized to take the child back home should be introduced to the school authorities by the parents/guardians. Parents are strongly requested not to take the child back home before the scheduled time.
- Change of address or phone numbers shall be immediately notified to the school office
- Any matter related to school, including telephone calls will be attended only during school hours.
10) INSTRUCTION TO PARENTS & STUDENTS
- Parents must watch and guide their children’s studies at home. Children need constant attention and encouragement to enable them to improve their performance.
- Please send your child to school every day. Please don’t allow a child to be absent except for health reasons or such exceptionally valid reasons.
- Letters send to parents must be properly responded. Parents when summoned to School must understand that there is something very important to be discussed with them.
- Parents are requested not to allow children to bring CDs, cameras, mobile phones, video games or similar gadgets to the school. It may be noted that any violation of this rule will be viewed very seriously.
- Students are not permitted to bring money to the School, unless there is a clear instruction from the school to bring money for a particular purpose.
- Girls are permitted to wear black hair clips only. Colourful hair-clips, hair bands, etc. are not permitted. Decorative items like ornaments, bangles, expensive watches etc. are discouraged.
- Boys shall have a decent haircut. Wearing long hair, and crew-cut etc. are absolutely discouraged.
- Parents are requested to write the child’s name and class on his his/her belonging such as water bottles, tiffin-box etc.
- Parents have a responsibility to encourage modest, decent and tasteful dressing habits, conforming to acceptable social mores, amongst children from very early stages of their development.
11) PUNCTUALITY
- Students are expected to be regular and punctual and once inside the school premises, they shall not go out of the school campus without the permission of the Principal.
- At the first bell the students shall line up to go for the assembly in perfect silence. At the second bell, all students should assemble in the school yard in order and in silence. After the assembly they shall go to the respective classes in perfect order and silence.
- During intervals and play time the students shall not go out of the school premises. They should avoid shouting, quarrelling and the use of rude language in the class rooms and school premises.
- Running inside the school building, especially through the corridors and stair cases, is strictly prohibited.
- Regular violation will invite serious remedial measures.
12) LATE COMERS
- Students who are not present for the assembly for three consecutive days will be treated as late comers and such students may be asked to go back home immediately. Delay by the conveyance is not an excuse in this regard.
13) DAMAGE TO THE SCHOOL PROPERTY
- School is the Temple of Knowledge. Every student is expected to behave with reverence to this Temple of Knowledge. Keep the school, premises and properties neat and clean without any damage.
- Students are strictly forbidden to write or scribble on walls, desks, benches etc. or throw paper or spill ink around the classrooms or cause damage to the school property such as laboratory articles, library books, and furniture etc.
- Damage done to the school property should be fully compensated, and such cases will be dealt strictly.
- The school authorities will be constrained to resort to stern actions to curb all kinds of destructive tendencies in the students.
14) PRACTICES FORBIDDEN IN THE SCHOOL
- Students are not expected to give any gifts to the teachers without the knowledge and consent of the Principal.
- Students are not allowed to indulge in any commercial activity in the school campus that involves money, promotion of any product or company.
- Do not bring or sell tickets, distribute notice or collect money in the school without the permission of the Principal.
- No literature (including periodicals and comic books etc.) other than the text books or library books may be brought to the school premises.
- Students found with depraved books or pictures or found lending them to others are liable to be expelled from the school.
- The students shall not bring to the school any object liable to cause disturbance in the school such as crackers, water pistols, transistors, electronic gadgets including cameras, mobile phones I pods etc.
- The students are not permitted to wear jewellers, or to bring valuable articles. Each child is responsible for himself/herself up on whatever belongings brought in the school. Do not bring any hazardous objects that may cause injury to others including razors, blades etc.
- Campus politics or an election under political colour is strictly forbidden. However, the school leaders and the office bearers will be either appointed by the Principal or elected as per the procedures promulgated by the school authority. Any activity or campaign under any political party is strictly prohibited.
- Running, playing, shouting and whistling inside the school building is never allowed. Students are not permitted to apply mehandi, nail polish etc.
- Students of LKG to standard IV are not permitted to wear wrist watches.
15) HOME WORK
- The parents shall go through the School Diary for any communication on daily basis. Attend to your child’s home work without fail and supervise them regularly.
- Bring the School Diary to the school every day. Those who do not bring it shall be fined.
- 16) TIFFIN
- Tiffin must be sent along with the child. Bringing Tiffin during school hours is an exception, and will not be permitted to do on daily basis. Only an authorized person will be allowed to hand over the Tiffin during school hours..
17) SCHOOL UNIFORM
- Parents are requested to send their children to the school in time and in the prescribed uniform, neat and tidy on all working days.
- On stipulated days and birthdays, the children may be sent to the school in modest civil dress. The students are not allowed to wear sleeveless dress in the school.
- The school discourages distributing sweets on birthday but students are motivated to contribute books to the school library on birthday.
- Students have to follow only the accepted uniform pattern of the school. No addition or omission is permitted.
18) SCHOOL FEES
- If the fees are not paid for over two months, the students may not be permitted to sit in the class. If fees are not paid for over six months, the name of the student will be struck off the register.
- Those who do not pay the fees on the stipulated days are liable to pay late fee also. School will not be responsible for the loss of cash or cheque sent through the student.
- There will be increment of school fee every year.
- School fees are collected for 12 months.
19) LOST ARTICLES
- The school will not be responsible for any loss of articles or cash. All articles found in the school premises and not claimed with in a week, shall be disposed off.
20) CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
- All the students are expected to take part in all the extra-curricular activities of the school under the guidance of the Principal and department heads. The students shall be present in the school on the days set apart for cultural and sports competitions and on the annual day of the school without fail.
21) HOLIDAYS
- Holidays are observed as per the instructions of the Department of Education, Government of Maharashtra, with slight modification as per the needs of the school.
22) INFECTIOUS DISEASES
- It is advisable not to send a pupil suffering from infectious or contagious disease to the school. A medical certificate showing that the student is free from infection should be produced when he/she rejoins the school after such illness.
